Online Real Estate Training

December 12th, 2006

With the current surge in property value, real estate is a hot career opportunity, and with a real estate online training course you’ll be able to take advantage of it, whether you’re in Florida or Texas or any of the other mainland states. Online real estate courses prepare you for the State examinations to gain your real estate qualification, but also provide you with valuable practical training that will stand you in good stead in your career.

Online Real Estate Courses

In 2004 there were around 460,000 real estate brokers and sales agents working in the US. There are various options open to you with a real estate degree: real estate agent, real estate appraiser, real estate investment counselling and mortgage financing are the main career paths.

The average duration of an online training course is from one to three years, during which time you’ll study subjects like real estate marketing, real property law, appraisal and property management.

Buying a home is a big decision for anyone, and always has very important financial implications with mortgages etc. It’s not a simple process, and as a result, almost all home buyers (and sellers) enlist the services of a real estate agent or broker to help them with this complex transaction. Note these differing roles:

  • A real estate agent is a person licensed by the state to handle real estate sales.
  • A real estate broker, also licensed by the state, is the person who may own a real estate company, or has overall responsibility for the agent’s actions.
  • A real estate appraiser may be used by a real estate agent to determine the fair market value of a home for sale.

Online Dive Classes

December 10th, 2006

No, onlive dive classes do NOT involve waterproof computers! Naturally, the most important part of learning to dive is getting into the water with a qualified instructor, to develop and practice critical underwater skills, and that’s something you definitely can’t do on a computer.

But what you can do is cut out the time spent in a classroom going through academic material you are perfectly capable of learning on your own, at your own pace and when it is most convenient, an advantage shared by all online education courses. Usually this requires several hours of formal classroom training. Now, through online instruction, you can complete this phase yourself, studying when you want, in the convenience of your home or office.

Although there are several scuba diving accreditation bodies (SDI, PADI, DSAT, TDI, and DAN are the main ones) of these only SDI (Scuba Diving International) as far as I know offers online classes for the theoretical side of their courses.

College Correspondence Courses

December 5th, 2006

Online college courses are getting more popular, and they can count towards degrees or for transfers to other colleges or universities in the same way as campus-based classes do. But they shouldn’t be regarded as an easy option: you’ve really got to be self-motivated and above all, self-disciplined if you’re going to get through your correspondence course successfully - there won’t be any instructor pushing you to complete assignments!

A big advantage is that you get to study at your own rate and at the time and place you choose. This is a boon to people in the work force who want to begin or continue with their college education, and even to teachers who need additional certification or want to do more study in the subjects they teach.

Distance learning degrees, bachelors or masters, can be a valuable addition to your resume, but you should take care in selecting the college or university providing the correspondence course, some are worthless. And don’t forget there is a wide range of accredited online university and college courses and degrees available, not just in purely academic subjects: nursing, accounting, business, computer, technical, web design and law enforcement are just some of your options for an online distance education course. Distance learning programs

November 30th, 2006

There are many types of distance learning courses, teaching a myriad of subjects and qualifications, and many universities, colleges and other organisations, both public and private, offering them. The first subject taught by correspondence was Pitman Shorthand, and the largest distance education organisaton is the United Kingdom’s Open University which was founded in 1969.

Although we’re mainly interested in online education on Educate Yourself Online, most distance learning involves a combination of media. Courses can be

  • Online via the internet: conducted either synchronously (in real time) or asynchronously (where the teacher and the student each make their contributions in their own time)
  • Telecourse/Broadcast: course content is delivered via radio or television
  • CD-ROM: the student interacts with computer content stored on a CD-ROM
  • Correspondence courses conducted through the ordinary mail service
